S-Boat Captain

This is the Young Miniatures WWII S-Boat Captain bust. This one was painted for Dutch Allen. All done in oils over acrylics of course. The jacket color is a mix of Gold/Ochre, Burnt Umber and Titanium White. The Blues are Blue/Black and Winsor Blue with Titanium White. A final application of Dullcote was applied to flatten some of the sheen of the oils. The figure is made of metal and is fairly heavy once the head is attached. The wiring for the comm set is solder that was primed and painted. The wire supplied in the kit was brass or copper but was not as pliable as solder and didn't lay right. The Young miniatures kits are very well done and go together with no problems. The nose was damaged during pkg. and had to be sculpted using A&B putty.
